50 Plus: English for Mature Students

Overview

This course is specially designed for more mature students who want to study English with people of their own age, and who have an interest in learning about the history, culture and traditions of the UK. Classes take place in the mornings, and in the afternoons, there are organized trips to places of interest and outstanding beauty in and around Bath. This course runs throughout the year, and you can join any Monday.

Age Requirement Age 50 and above
Classes per Week 15 lessons (09:00 - 12:00)
Afternoon Visits All weekday afternoons except for Friday
All-Day Visits Each weekend a whole-day trip will be offered.
Entry Level of English Classes are offered for students at Elementary / Pre-Intermediate / Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels
Placement Details Students are given a placement test on their first day

Key Points

  • 15 lessons per week
  • Morning only classes and afternoon visits
  • Lessons between 09:00 and 12:00
  • Classes deal with grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. They provide practice in the four skills areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing
  • Certificates of Attendance are issued on completion of the course
  • Reports are issued at the end of the course suggesting ideas for future learning
  • This course may be entered on any Monday of the year except over the Christmas period

  • Visit to the Museum of Costume
  • Canal Walk

  • Gardens of England - a tour of some beautiful gardens (depending on season)
