Adult English Language Courses

Bath Academy's English Language Courses are designed for people who wish to improve their level of English for academic and professional reasons.

If you wish to go on to further academic study (GCSE, GCE Advanced Level, University Foundation, Post-graduate studies) in an English speaking environment, following a Bath Academy course will prepare you for the next stage in your education.

If you need to improve your overall competence in English for work or simply for pleasure, a Bath Academy course will provide you with a thorough and stimulating learning experience.

Key Points:

• All classes are taught to the highest standards by our team of highly experienced, qualified teachers.
• Course dates are flexible. Unless otherwise stated, courses may be entered on any Monday of the year (except over the Christmas period).
• Tuition is in multinational groups with a maximum of 13 students per class.
• The minimum enrolment age for Adult Language courses is 16.
• Students are given a placement test on their first day to ensure they are placed in the most appropriate class.
• Regular progress tests are given, and homework is set regularly.
• Regular individual tutorials are provided, in which students are given feedback on their progress and guidance on how to improve.
• Teachers typically use a course book supplemented by additional material. The course book is provided to students for the duration of their course.
• Each teaching hour consists of 55 minutes of teaching and 5 minutes of break time.
• Morning classes are typically 9.00 - 12.00 with one break of 15 minutes.
• Afternoon classes are typically 1.00 - 3.00 with one break of 10 minutes.
• Class times may vary slightly at certain times of the year.
• There are no classes on bank holidays (public holidays in England), and there is no refund for these days.
• Certificates of attendance are issued on completion of the course.
• Detailed reports are issued at the end of the course.
