Why did you choose to study at Bath Academy?

"The college offers a wide range of subjects, which allows me to try and find out which ones are suitable for my abilities. Moreover, a good number of international students in the college assured me that my needs would be genuinely cared for by experienced staff and teachers."

What do you like about the college?

"The students in the college develop strong bonds with one another, so I don’t feel at all lonely. There are numerous social programme activities such as sport, summer ball … so that we can have a break from our learning routine. The college’s ideal location at the city centre gains us quick and easy access to any shops and services should we have any break during school days."

Was the college environment an important factor?

"It definitely was. It’s the people that make the difference. I believe you can only make good progress and lead a happy life in a pleasant and suitable environment. The quality of my learning course was of great importance, too."

What advice would you give to students on choosing a college?

"Choose a college which can provide you not only with academic opportunities but also social interaction and involvement. It will help enhance your confidence, enrich your experience, prepare you for the future and discover your hidden abilities."

Tracey says:

"Before going to England I had many concerns and worries about adapting to a new environment, a new education system and meeting different people. To my relief, Bath Academy made me feel welcome from the very first moment. Everyone greets you with warm smiles and kind gestures here. Although I have been doing my A level course for a month only, I have made many friends in and outside the school. I have grown much more confident about all the subjects I am taking (3 of which are completely new to me!). Here at the college I am taught “how to think” and not “what to think”. The dedicated and experienced staff and teachers always appreciate my opinions and never fail to help me with my problems. I used to dread the idea of living away from my family, let alone living with “total strangers”. However, my host family now are very friendly and kind, not strangers as I assumed. They care about me and I have become a member of their family and they respect my complete freedom, too.
I enjoy staying here and I believe, like the rest of the students, I will gather many fruitful and enjoyable experiences here at Bath Academy."

Why did you choose to study at Bath Academy?

"I chose to study English here first, but I liked the atmosphere and people here and decided to do my A levels here as well."

What do you like about Bath Academy?

"The Bath Academy building is very old and beautiful. Teachers are very helpful and everybody is very friendly. Whatever your problem, the staff here will find the best way to help you. I feel quite warm and happy at Bath Academy."

Was the Bath Academy environment an important factor in your decision?

"I always think that environment affects people and their work. I feel very comfortable when I study here and that was a very important factor in my decision."

What advice would you give to students on choosing a college?

"They should choose the college which they are really interested in and suitable for their course. Find out about the teachers and the college atmosphere which are very important factors that make one’s studying more effective."

Hannah Says:

"Before I came to Bath to study, I wanted to experience life here. Schools in my own country are quite strict and students cannot develop in an individual way. I like to do things my own way and make my own decisions, which is why I chose to study abroad in a different life and a different culture. Now I feel much more comfortable and in control of my life. At Bath Academy the teachers care about students and they encourage them to work independently. It is so fascinating to me and I am really interested in my studies and my time here. I made a lot of friends from many different countries. They are all very friendly. My parents are very glad about my studying and my life here. I am much more confident now than I have ever been before. After I finish my A levels I will be ready for university life. I knew that I made a right decision when I came here."

Name: Wan Chen Sui, Rebecca
Age: 18
Home country: China
Course: University Foundation Programme

Rebecca says:

"After graduating from high school in China, I decided to go to UK because I want to learn and live in a different culture. I heard about Bath Academy from my friend who studies in London. He told me not only about the school but also the city of Bath. I thought that it would be a suitable place for me since I enjoy living in a small, beautiful and peaceful place and that is just Bath."

"When I got here, I was so happy that I had made this decision. The staff in Bath Academy are very friendly and helpful and the teachers are knowledgeable and motivating. The Academy also provides me with a different and colourful life. My previous school was very formal and restrictive in many ways and every day was the same. Bath Academy also offers a varied social programme which provides us with more opportunities to meet new friends. For instance, we have day trips to Cardiff and London, different kinds of sports matches and disco nights as well. "

"Bath Academy provides me with a chance to develop both my academic and practical skills needed for my degree study at university. I have been making considerable progress in my studies and have got very good results in my exams. I feel excited that I am going to university in the autumn. I have already received four offers, which are all universities with a top 20 ranking in business studies. Bath University is my priority since I enjoy the life here in Bath. I am waiting for their offer at the moment. Let’s keep our figures crossed!"
