Social Programme

The college has a lively social programme which includes discos, movie nights, an international evening and other varied creative activities as well as end of term parties and day trips to various cities in the UK. Many of the activities are free of charge, though students are asked to contribute towards some of them. Students elect their own representatives to form a Student Committee so their views on activities can be expressed.

There is also the weekly sports programme at the Bath Leisure Centre where all the students are encouraged to get involved in something. Throughout the year, the students can play football, badminton, netball, table tennis, basketball and tennis.

International Evening 2007

Saturday, March 10th saw Bath Academy students and staff, gather at the Green Park Brasserie for the Academy's annual International Evening. A wide range of nationalities was represented, including China, Vietnam, Qatar, Iran, Nigeria, Zambia, Kazhakstan, Malaysia. Dubai, Seychelles, Kenya, and Tunisia.

Performances ranged from a recital on the santoor, a traditional Iranian stringed instrument, to a Spanish Duet and the teachers even got involved by singing some barbershop classics! For the finale, everyone joined in with a rendition of John Lennon's Imagine, lead by Payam.

Some of the students came dressed in their finest traditional clothes, and prizes were given to the best dressed girl and boy, who were Abu and Fidelia from Nigeria and Zambia. The prize for the best performance, a meal for two at the Firehouse Rotisserie, went to Payam for his santoor playing. The night was rounded off with a hot snack buffet and dancing to the Soundmaster DJ's until peoples legs got tired.

Special thanks goes out to everyone who was involved in organising the event and to all the performers. It was definitely a memorable evening!

A mention should go to Fahad and Mohammed from Qatar who looked wonderful in their full traditional dress!

Halloween Night 2006

31st October was Halloween Night and those students in the Oxford hostel got to try their hand at the tradition of pumpkin carving! Well done to Onyinye who won the prize for the best pumpkin! Some also made themselves up into vampires and ghouls and went out trick or treating coming back with a horde of goodies!

Trip to Bristol 2006

On 28 October, a gang of us hopped on the train to Bristol to spend the day taking in the sights and sounds of our bigger neighbour, and in particular the award winning @Bristol attraction. First up was a journey through the Wildwalk - an undercover living rainforest, teeming with tropical plants and birds. There were plenty of creepy crawlies to get up close and personal with too, the favourite being the handsized tarantula! Another spectacular sight was the walk through living coral reef, complete with an array of colourful tropical fish.

After a bite to eat it was then time to sit back and enjoy the wonders of Sharks in 3D at the IMAX Theatre. We swam amongst jelly fish, mantarays and turtles and watched in awe as the sharks came within touching distance. After all that wildlife we went out to explore the trendy shops and markets of Bristol, and see what bargains we could pick up. Some even came back armed with boxes of real Chinese noodles from the Chinese supermarket. Even the rain didn't hamper the days events and a good time was had by all.

Summer Ball 2006

In line with Bath Academy’s tradition, the Summer Ball was held at the historic Guild Hall. The turn out was excellent with everyone looking their best in black tie and a stunning range of gowns. During the reception drinks, photo sessions took place before people made their way through to be seated for the 4 course dinner in the magnificent banqueting hall. Guests were served with an array of mouth watering dishes and the meal was rounded off with a short speech by the Vice Principal, Mr Brown.

After dinner, the live band took centre stage and played right through the evening to the energetic crowds on the dance floor.
