Bath Academy plans to light up Queen Square this winter and add some sparkly festive cheer with a very large and beautiful Christmas tree in our front courtyard. More than just a decorative tree, it will be a ‘Remembrance Tree’ managed by our very own Student Elves who will be looking for help to decorate it in a special way for a special cause.
As we head into the Christmas period, it is more important than ever to remember our loved ones, to celebrate their life or acknowledge those going through difficult times. Similar to Dorothy House’s ‘Light up a Life’ campaign where a candle on a tree is lit for a loved one at Christmas time, Bath Academy’s project – ‘Dress Dorothy’s Tree’ – will have the same sentiment but using symbolic baubles instead of candles to decorate the tree.
Taking place during Bath’s busy Christmas market, we are hoping to attract market-goers to our Christmas display where they can purchase a Bath […]
Exams are finally over for our academic students! It’s been a stressful few weeks of revising and then the exams themselves, but our students made it through with confidence and determination, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.
Now it’s time for our academic students to take a well-deserved break and to welcome our international students for Junior Summer School! Each year we have lovely students join us from all over the world to learn English, visit Bath, and explore all the beautiful and historical places we have in the southwest UK. Once again we’re hosting a second Junior Summer School at Milton Abbey in Dorset, and it’s promising to be even bigger and better than last year. It’s going to be a great summer!
The annual CIFE Awards took place last Wednesday at the House of Lords in London where Lord Lexden presented an award to two of our students:
Mollie Selwood – Winner of Value-Added Award
Congratulations to Mollie Selwood who received the Value-Added award for achieving an 8 grade improvement with AAA in Accounting, Chemistry, and Maths. She’s now studying Accounting & Finance at University of Exeter.
Also awarded was Alise Ashby who studied Government & Politics with us achieving grade A in one year and has gained a place at Oxford studying History & Politics . Alise was awarded our college prize as our Young Carer Scholarship student for her amazing efforts overcoming challenges due to her caring responsibilities.
Huge congratulations to both of these incredible students, we are very proud of you 🤗🎓🎓
Each year CIFE hosts an inter-college quiz in London, and every year Bath Academy sends a team of clever students to participate. The questions test teams across a wide range of subjects. This year our international team included Maddie, Will, Oma, Luke, and Olga who came in 6th overall for a great result!
Our international students had the honor of attending a Civic Reception held at the historical Pump Rooms in Bath at the end of November. Hosted by the Mayor of Bath, this annual reception is organised especially to welcome students from abroad.
Each student was personally welcomed by the Mayor of Bath, followed by a drinks reception and inspiring speech from the Mayor himself.
“What you are experiencing is a renaissance of Bath as a university city. As international students and very welcome guests of this city, it gives me tremendous confidence in what you will take away and what you’ll give to society. It’s only through international cooperation and collaboration that we really understand how we need to look after the earth. If we really understand how we need to look out for the earth, if the environment is going to continue to nurture us as we want it to, we have to look after it in turn.”
