Celebrating Growth, Achievement, and Community: A Year in Reflection at Bath Academy

Posted: 8th December 2025

Our Principal, Tim Naylor, recently returned from the Interim General Meeting of CIFE – the professional association representing colleges like Bath Academy – where nominations were announced for the Annual Awards at the House of Lords in May. Tim described the event as “a welcome moment of reflection – an opportunity to recognise not only what has been achieved this year, but also the spirit in which our community has grown together.”

A Culture Rooted in Inclusivity and Wellbeing

At Bath Academy, inclusivity and wellbeing form the foundation of our educational approach. As Tim noted, “Our ethos means we seek to meet each student with empathy, genuineness, and positive encouragement – creating an environment in which every individual feels heard, valued, and able to develop at their own pace.”
This year’s achievements, therefore, are more than academic accomplishments. They are, in Tim’s words, “expressions of personal growth, resilience, and the power of supportive relationships.”

Outstanding Academic Outcomes
This year’s results reflect the strength of that foundation – a blend of hard work, trust, and the confidence that grows when students feel supported and understood.

A-Level Results 2025

23.3% of grades were A*/A
38.4% of grades were A*–B
60.5% of entries achieved grades A*–C
92% of students progressed to their first-choice university
60% secured places at Russell Group universities
Resit students improved by an average of one grade per subject
14 out of 17 subjects achieved 100% pass rates
Top university destinations include Exeter, Bristol, Bath, Sussex, Royal Holloway, and Leeds

Tim reflects, “These outcomes are rooted not only in hard work but in the trust and encouragement that develop when young people feel safe to explore their potential.”

GCSE Results 2025

75% achieved grades 4–9 (compared with 67% nationally)
28% achieved grades 7–9 (vs. 23% in state schools)
Subjects with 100% pass rates included Arabic, Chemistry, English as a Second Language, English Literature, French, and Further Maths
65% of GCSE students chose to stay with us for A Levels or further GCSEs
87% passed all subjects
These successes, Tim says, “demonstrate the power of the inclusive learning culture that emerges when each person is encouraged to express themselves authentically and to learn without fear of judgement.”

Stories Behind the Statistics

Behind every number lies a personal journey of courage and dedication. Among this year’s standout achievers:

Conrad, who joined us from Monkton Combe after seeing his brother thrive at the Academy, achieved A* A A in Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics and is now preparing for medical school.

Samuel, joining from Dean Close in Cheltenham, achieved AAA and will progress to Veterinary Sciences at the University of Liverpool.

Jess, who retook three A Levels, achieved an extraordinary six-grade improvement, demonstrating the power of persistence when matched with care and encouragement.

Tim reflected on these stories by sharing, “Progress flourishes where individuals experience patience, understanding, and consistent support.”

More Than Results: A Community That Walks Alongside Its Students

For many students, Bath Academy becomes a space for a fresh start and renewed confidence. “Our role is to walk alongside them – to offer presence, understanding, and belief,” Tim explains, “as they move from self-doubt towards a renewed sense of possibility.”

Quoting Angela Duckworth, Tim reminds us: “Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare.” And endurance is exactly what our students have shown – supported by strong relationships and the freedom to grow into themselves.

Celebrating Who Our Students Are Becoming

As this academic year draws to a close, we celebrate not just the results but the personal transformations behind them. In Tim’s words, “We celebrate not only what they have achieved, but who they are becoming. Their journeys remind us that when students are met with respect, empathy, and genuine acceptance, meaningful transformation follows.”
Warm congratulations to each of our students. Your achievements – both academic and personal – make us immensely proud.
