Student Welfare for Junior Summer School Students

Your Safety and Well-being Come First

At Bath Academy, student welfare is at the heart of everything we do.

Our dedicated Safeguarding Team has extensive experience in supporting the safety and well-being of young learners.

Every Junior Summer School student receives a wristband with our 24/7 emergency contact number, ensuring help is always within reach. We closely monitor student attendance and participation in both lessons and activities, so we always know where our students are and that they’re fully engaged.

All staff receive comprehensive safeguarding and welfare training, and many are also first aid qualified, providing an extra level of care and peace of mind for both students and parents.

Key Features of Our Welfare Service

  • 1:15 supervision ratio on all activities
  •  24-hour emergency phone number
  • All staff are DBS-checked and trained in welfare and safeguarding issues
  •  Regular meetings with group leaders

Caring for Both Groups and Individual Students

At Bath Academy, we are committed to providing outstanding support for both groups and individual students. We work closely with Group Leaders to ensure their students are happy, engaged, and getting the most out of their stay. Our management team is always available to discuss any concerns, and we hold regular meetings with Group Leaders, the Director of Studies, and the Junior Summer School Coordinator to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Individual students receive the same high level of care and attention, with friendly staff always available for guidance, support, or simply a chat. Everyone is part of the Bath Academy community—whether arriving alone or as part of a group.

Safeguarding at Bath Academy

The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We have strong, well-established safeguarding procedures in place to ensure every student feels safe, supported, and cared for during their time with us.

All staff members, homestay hosts, and any adult living in a homestay household undergo enhanced DBS (criminal background) checks. In addition, they all receive regular safeguarding training to stay up to date with best practices in student welfare and protection.

For full details, please see our Safeguarding Policy available on our School Policies page.

A dedicated teaching assistant will be assigned to provide extra help during lessons, as well as encouragement and reassurance during breaks and activities—ensuring younger students feel safe, supported, and fully included at all times.
